Solaread Browser Extension Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026
This policy covers the Solaread browser extension. Your Solaread account, and everything the extension saves to it, is covered by the Solaread Privacy Policy, which also explains your rights, how long data is kept and how to contact us.
Saving pages to Solaread
Solaread captures article text only after you press Save to Solaread. Opening the popup reads the active page title and article image hostnames to prepare optional image permission requests. Saving does not monitor other pages in the background. YouTube transcript capture does not read recommendation thumbnails or request their image permissions.
Each pending capture contains the title, source URL, article or visible YouTube transcript, and available page images, and is stored in the browser until Solaread acknowledges import. Pending storage is limited to 50 pages, 8 MB per capture and 64 MB total. After a successful import, the pending capture is removed. The extension also keeps one most-recent-save status record in the browser, including its page title, source URL, destination and result, so reopening the popup can show the last save. This record remains until the next save replaces it or the extension is uninstalled. The extension does not keep a list of past saves.
Saving a page does not require a live account session; Solaread Web checks its own session when importing. Optional access is requested only for the active article's image origins. Declining access still saves article text; unavailable images are reported. Image fetches omit credentials. The Open Solaread link lets you finish pending imports.
What the extension does not do
It does not read, store or expose account cookies or tokens. It collects no analytics or advertising identifiers and keeps no history of the pages you visit.
Your choices
Declining image access still saves the article text. Saved pages become books in your Solaread library, where you can delete them; deleting your Solaread account deletes them. Uninstalling the extension removes its local storage according to Chrome's extension data rules.
